Difference between cities

I noticed some important differences about big cities couples days ago,
Usually in the developed countries there are two main cities who compete to be the capital, the most important city or the first symbol of the country that they represent.
One of the cities is more fashion, cultural, commercial, artistic and with a good combination between the modern and the classic architecture.
In the other hand we have political and institutional cities, usually with more population and with a worst transportation system. I don’t want to say that these cities don’t have a good cultural standard of life or that they are not fashions but it is different than the cities that are included in the first list. Finally, and because I’m talking about developed countries the transportation system is always better than in the developing countries but you can see difference with the punctuality or the modernization of the system.
In my opinion, and depending each country you can see some of the different cities below:
- In Spain, Barcelona correspond to the first list and Madrid to the second one.
- In Italy, Milan is the first and Rome is the second one.
- In US, you can see the difference in both cost: San Fransisco and Los Angeles in the west cost and New York vs Boston or Washington in the east cost.
- And finally in Australia where you can see the difference between Melbourne and Sydney. Canberra was selected for the location of the nation’s capital in 1908 as a compromise between rivals Sydney and Melbourne.
I believe it happened the same in Germany with Frankfort and Berlin, in Brazil with Sao Pablo and Rio de Janeiro, in Colombia with Medellin and Bogota and in China with Beijing and Shanghai. Buenos Aires is a mix between both and there is not any city from Argentina who can compete with it yet.
