If Sidney was a very nice city, Melbourne is amazing. It is an exciting city with very friendly people,
lots of cafes and many things to do.
We arrived on Tuesday night but only on Wednesday morning we moved to the host family that we supposed to stay.
It was little far, we took the train for almost an hour, but as soon as we got to the station Debbie was waiting for us. She is the mother of the family that we are staying and we met her through couchsurfing. The first day we met other members of the family: Vaughn (father), Stevens (son, who lives with us), Lea Anne (daughter) her husband and her two siblings.
The university was pretty good, lot of people from Asia, some from Colombia, one from Belgium, Russia and Kazakhstan, probably more than 200 students were starting classes. On Monday we went to class, I was in the academic course, Juan chose General English. I asked to move my class, so on Tuesday I started the second level and it was much more interesting. On Thursday we had our first excursion with uni, I went to a vineyard, to the yarra warra museum of art (it was an exposition of Ben Quelty very recommendable, much better than his website) and to a Reservoia.
The family that we are staying is really welcoming, friendly and open. We are glad to stay with them, we are learning lot from them and I hope they from us, you should see the faces of Vaughn or Stevens drinking mate or the face of Juan after scooping Vegemite. On Friday Debbie invited us to puffing billy, a little train like the trochita from Esquel, we went in the engine and the captain knew about Esquel!
We also went to a local Australian football math and an official one, Juan is going to post later about this sport joined by most of the Australians, and maybe in two weeks we’ll go to the final.
