The 5th Youth World Congress has brought 1300 youth people together, finding completely different backgrounds, religions and experiences in one hand and same values, ideas and spirits in the other one, building a bond between both of them and demonstrating that there are not really differences between what we all dream. The video below shows some of the participants, who were asked the same question, the night that we took a boat to the Bosphorus.

I usually let people or places to surprise me, however I had some previous expectation for the 5th Youth World Congress. The people that I met super overcome all of my expectations but the organization didn’t at all.

About the people that I met they all were amazing talented and a great potential to their nations. They were super educators, journalists, social or business entrepreneurs and activist.

The congress gave us the platform to share part of our energies, experiences and knowledge. It also gave us the possibility to saw that there were lot of young people with the same desire of changes, people who don´t expect the changes to come, because they are who make things happen.

Turkey is a pretty special country, it´s always full of people, colors, smells and energy.  Most of the people on the streets don’t speak English (or Spanish), however we always were able to went through.

About the organization, we presented our complains and I think list them is not going to help now, however I think is important to share some thoughts about Turkey, because I think is part of what was behind.

Turkey was funded as a republic by Ataturk, who was a militar as I described in a previous post. Militars had strong power in the Turkish government before the actual government. Today some of the ex top militars have been prosecute or they are in jail. The actual government, who is from an Islamic conservative party, has been in the power for the last 8 years. The government has been driving the economic crisis correctly and it has growth for the last years.

On September there is a referendum to modify the constitution, the referendum will decide how the judges from the supreme court have to be selected, the Congress “supported” the referendum. The government is also pushing to get in to the European Union and they also have been very active in the negotiations between US, Europe and Middle East.

My grandma will probably say that there were a lot in the plate of Turkey, which I believe was one of the reasons that the Congress didn’t have the organization that deserved, however what matters is that we all know that there are not really differences between what we all want to build to affect positive as much people as we can.

Bye the end of the Congress I met, with Vicky, a writer of the first Turkish novel about Tango. She invited us to dance tango, in one of the 30 milongas of Istanbul, the night before I flew out.

Finally, one of the last business growth tips was Leaders need to keep in touch and I hope we all will!

    Enjoy the photos!
