On June 2010 RESULTS.com signed an office lease in a complex at Abbot Kinney Blvd and California Av, Venice beach, which is one of the most trendy areas in Southern California. Few months later, Google signed a 100,000-square-foot office lease in a Venice complex, less than 10 blocks from ours.

After seeing this big moves Facebook decided to do something similar and according to Los Angeles Business Journal: “Facebook has quietly shopped for space and last week signed a letter of intent to lease several thousand square feet in an office complex developed by Tishman Speyer Properties in Playa Vista”. Playa vista it´s right after Venice Beach to the southeast, however on their website Facebook says Venice Beach to be a little cooler. Silicon Beach is how Los Angeles Business Journal called Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Playa del Rey and Playa Vista.

For the residents of Venice Beach, I´d like say that rent will start rising and traffic getting worse, just imagine the new aprox 700 hundred employees from Google coming to the area and the unconfirmed number of Facebookers.

It´s time to start looking for that old bike that you have in your storage or to start skateboarding, although check if you can renew your leases for a two or three years period before the wave of new techies approach our cost.

I´m glad that we are in a completely different business than Google and Facebook, but as them, it´s clear that RESULTS.com is moving their entire industry forward.

For those who are interested in reading how Facebook and Google are competing, this is what it has happend lately:

Facebook launched a super energy efficient data center trying to commoditized one of Google’s most important assets: its data centers.

Facebook created a data center 38% more energy efficient than the standard data center and cost 24% less, but what is best is that they specs are open and on open compute project.

Super exciting times to be in!

A very big change is coming in this post, for that, I invite you to read it slowly, taking it as an inspiration, not expecting less from you or from your future changes.

I have decided to stop Chapter 25. I stopped one of my big journeys for a great opportunity, which came up, I putted the breaks on to make a change and reorient to a new way, different than before, but my way now.

My work with RESULTS.com was sincerely awesome, I learned tons, I feel I fitted perfectly with all of them and what is more important I can clearly see the potential of what we are doing.

Last year they settled up offices in Canada and on April the company is going to start her operations to conquest US. Joining the expansions was something very exciting and I knew I had something different to contribute with.

The proposal that I accepted was simple and clear, giving me the possibility to grow and it included relocate my self in Los Angeles, California, for at least two years and starting on April. In the beginning I’m going to be one of the first persons in the US and I know it is going to be a huge challenge, however I already love it and I’m looking forward for it.

For the end, two last things, when I was thinking which decision to take, I projected two Sebastians. One who continue traveling, learning and meeting new cultures, who was a little more hippie than the other Sebastian, who was coming back to the business market in the US. I decided myself for the second option because I know I can affect positive much more people; just imagine the possibility to be able to transform business potential into extraordinary RESULTS.

Secondly, but not less important, CHAPTER 25 was an exiting part in my journey and it seriously lifted my bar higher, I learned piles, I met wonderful people, I been in beautiful and very remote places and it helped me to know my self better. If one day I can finish it, it is going to be with the same philosophy. Meanwhile is going to be very well recordado, que significa en latin volver a pasar por el corazon (it is going to be very well remember what in Latin means pass again by your heart).

As I said in a previous post about RESULTS, this blog represents my own opinions, and does not in any way represent those of them, except coincidentally. To read more about Results.com.

As I mentioned in the post New Zealand wants me a little more I decided to stay a little longer in Auckland because of a job opportunity that came up.

Today I’m going to explain whom I’m working with and which are my responsibilities. I’m working for Results; it is a NZ company, with offices in Canada and setting the company in new countries during 2010. My responsibility are realigning the site to convert and create new ways to drive traffic, among other every day fun stuff. Results offers strategic planning & business execution methodologies to be implemented into business with measurable results – tracked via software, which is under a beta version at the moment, and it is going to be launched in the following months, hopefully before I finish working for.

I remember when I told to my father that I’d be working for a company for just two months and he was a little surprised because a company accepted me for just a short period. He told me probably is how new jobs are, and I told him: dad I also know all what I can do with just only two months.

All the people who I’m working with, are amazing talented. At the moment there are few less than 250 employees in all the company, which is a lot but still not a huge corporation, in the office where I’m based there are about 25. I’m working directly with 4 of the members of the board of directors, Ben, Tony, Simon and Stephen. Ben is a natural leader who can make any deal sees for both parts, Tony is an IT genius, Simon has amazing speech skills and Stephen reads tons and is one of those few big minds. The first meeting that I had with all of them, Stephen asked me: what do you want to learn from us? I gave him a very random answer, which I didn’t like it later, however it was the first thing that came up to my mind. Today I hope I can learn a little more about leadership, negotiation, IT, speeches skills, strategy and business execution, among other things.

They always make sure I feel as a member, but what is more important they all think big, very big, and they are on the way to change how people execute business. I’m very happy to be a member of results team, even if it is going to be for a short time.

My original plan was to stay in New Zealand for two month before going to Singapore, but as any person, knows; original plans hardly work out…

The past two months I been working for the Japanese restaurant and for the Iphone app but any of both were exactly what I was looking for. When I came to NZ I started contacting lot of companies to intern for, most of them were from the list of the 50 NZ growest companies in 2008 (by deloitte), I remember that I have a crush with one of them (I hope I can use crush in this context), the company was also on the list of 2007, growing more than 180% percent per year…. My first step was asked to the members of the boards of directors to be added to my linkedin network; later, I emailed two of them asking for a meeting. After some emails we set up an interview with Simon, who was the director. I was expecting a very serious meeting in a formal office but after I met him at his office, he asked me: have you gotten lunch? No I haven’t… well let´s go to have it, there is an amazing Chinese restaurant no far from here, he completely dislocated me, however the meeting was really good and he was right, the restaurant was amazing.

A week after, Simon, introduced me to Ben, who is the CEO, and we scheduled a second interview. I felt this second meeting was even better, more focus in how I can contribute to the company. By the end, Ben proposed me to present my self to the other 2 partners who were in Auckland.

Last Tuesday, Ben, the other tow partners and my self had the mentioned meeting. I worked with what I found online and what we were discussing during the first two meetings to present some ideas. I think they liked the way that I did it and as soon the meeting was finish it I felt that podia frenar camiones con el pecho.

I´m starting on 13rd January and I have decided to stay in Auckland until the middle of march, I know that possibilities like this don’t came up every day. The company transforms business potential into extraordinary results and I hope I can learn as much as possible from all of them.

All of these doesn’t mean that Chapter 25 has changed, it is still the beginning. Singapore, I really hope I can achieve an international organization to work for. South east Asia I´m looking forward to take my backpack to start traveling all over your different countries, you know all what I been reading about it, I just need to postpone it a little more.

Merry Christmas,

Def de parar camiones con el pecho: it is the kind of situation when you are in a bus, you see a beautiful girl, you ask her Can I have your email address? what she answered: sorry no, and you say back, don’t worry, you miss it or in Spanish dicese de la situacion cuando estas en un colectivo, ves una chica muy linda le pedis el mail, te dice que no y le decis bueno vos te lo perdiste.
